I am a Master member of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists

AS a Scratchboard artist I use a product developed by an artist named Charles Ewing and produced by a company called Ampersand. It is a very versatile surface consisting of a Masonite board that has a thin layer of  a very fine white clay, called Kaolin Clay, applied to one side. Left at this point the product is called Claybord and the artist applies their own colors before scratching. Taking the Claybord and adding a layer of Black India Ink over the white clay surface creates the product called Scratchbord. I use and enjoy both Scratchbord and Claybord to create my artwork.
